Evesham Community Church began as a shared ministry between Holy Trinity Anglican Church and Evesham United Church in 1970. At that time a “Proposal for Co-operation” was ratified and the two congregations began their journey together. We are unique in the world of shared ministries. Since we did not amalgamate, as far as the higher church courts are concerned, we are still two congregations from two denominations. Holy Trinity Church is part of the Anglican Diocese of Saskatoon and Evesham United Church is part of the United Church of Canada. Locally, the ties that bind the members of Evesham Community Church together have grown stronger with each passing year. Since January 2001, the minister from the Unity-Meridian Pastoral Charge (United Church of Canada), has conducted a service in Evesham one Sunday per month. The remaining Sundays, a member of the congregation or pulpit supply from outside the congregation conducts the worship service. For the majority of the year, services are held in the United Church building as it has a full basement for Sunday School. Services are held in Holy Trinity Anglican Church in June if it is warm enough. The church has fantastic acoustics but no heat. Our Strengths: Our strength lies in being a welcoming congregation that offers a gospel-based, conservative style form of worship which appeals to people from all denominational backgrounds. Our Sunday School also follows the same practice - we avoid teaching denominational doctrines and focus on teaching basic Christian tenets to the children. Our Weakness: Our weakness is a shrinking membership due to age and rural depopulation. The young people who attend church do not make up for the older generation who are passing away.
